Immortality is fine, on the condition that everyone you care about is also immortal.

@Kirin-kun More people I love immortal would be better than fewer, but I'd take whatever was going. Sure, I'd be very sad when people I love started predeceasing me, but it's not like they would have lived longer otherwise.

@Purplelibraryguy One of the downsides of immortality is the dulling of the emotions. I'd imagine someone living forever wouldn't feel anything about people after a while.

@Kirin-kun Maybe. We don't really know. People lose people and keep their emotions; the rate wouldn't really increase, it would just keep on happening. A lot of the critiques of immortality I've seen sound to me basically like sour grapes--we can't have it, so we'd like to think it's not worth having.
