@Assaultsquirt how can he get the divine protection as the sage then? Between this and Douglas's manga is it like there's a trend lately against sages in hero parties? Why do they all seem really stupid? It's only that one sage who got reincarnated twice or the loli sages that don't have this issue, but the moment it's a sage in a typical JRPG party they get turned into the village idiot.

I dunno if it's been made clear yet, but your divine protection doesn't always mesh with you as a person. There is dissonance, like a weak, timid kid getting a divine protection meant for fighting. The real life equivalent would be a man being born with perfect looks, and yet being socially inept and incapable of asking a woman out.
