what is MC's end goal anyway? to make money? bullshit, he can grow a fortune out of his garden if he wanted money and don't say "it would cause inflation and fuck up the economy" as if him growing mythril swords and super potions for sale doesn't already do massive damage to the market and economy. is it to gain political power through business connections and market power? if so then he shouldn't be running away and hiding. if it's just to get away from the evil king they he should just skip the merchant bit and just live in peace in the forest.

You're totally right about that. Uncontrolled mass/over production would make the price value of those products drop dramatically, eventually tanking to rock bottom, not to mention kill the competition if he's selling it for less than them with little to no overhead expenses where he doesn't have to worry about profits, similar to how many mega corps nowadays operate in order to stamp out and/or absorb the smaller businesses, eventually creating a monopoly. Maybe that's his goal...to become Jeff Bezos.

I'm not sure why I didn't think of this before, but crashing the economy of somebody that tried to make you a slave is an absolutely wonderful way to get revenge where it hurts them the most. Even if he doesn't collapse it while alive, the entire economy goes with him since he's eventually the sole means of production with those low low prices he has.
