The statues plaque is written with (fake) Latin characters and decoding them reveals the words "Yusha GILDIAS KURAISTON"
So it doesn't seem to be his name is a rewrite of either Craystone or Claystone, his last name is literally meant to be Kuraiston.. (It probably means something for Lizardragonmen)
@RiceScum1 Maybe, but usually they use the intended latin spelling when they use a "normal" alphabet for it, kind of like an Easter egg. (If people bother decoding it, they might as well get something for it.)
For example, the golem bear that keeps getting mistranslated into Gladius - the imprinting on its body that we got to see (like 20 chapters ago) made it clear that its name was Gradivus (which makes a whole lot more sense than naming such a war god after a mid-sized dagger)
Helpful link about the latter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars_Gradivus
So dwarves are basically retarded in this universe, since they're collectively incapable of learning how to fight or understand the benefits of organizing an armed force, which begs the question how the fuck they've not been eradicated.
