stolen/destroyed item or killed character... can't remember what it is

Ok got a fun one. there was a manga/manhwa/webcomic where a character was either killed or their item that made them good was stolen or destroyed.

I think it was the main character it happened to, and I can't remember what it was, I think they came back much to the bad guys surprize, its not bleach.

not that one as I haven't read it, and yea, I know it's very little to go on, it's just a scene that popped into my head with enough description to interest me but not enough for me to go 'OH YEA THAT'S IT' and now its bugging me.
