@Geany To be fair, most of our technological advances have happened in the last maybe 300 years or so. Especially the last Century.

Human kingdoms have probably existed far before 7000 years in the past, but the problem is that I'm surprised this kingdom has existed for 7000 years but it's still Medieval, so I agree for the most part. I wonder how they haven't made any technology.

My first reaction when I saw she was not allowed any servants was, "oh no, there's going to be another dangerous moment like with that restaurant." Then I realized, she's had 4 years to learn to control her magic and she's been learning swordplay from her Mom, Siblings, and their Guards.

She'll be fine. If Swordplay fails, her magic is a good fallback.

Some Elements in this Chapter felt forced, like they had to let the readers know of facts that should have established over the "past 4 years". It's important plot points, but due to the large time skip, this also makes them have to cram in chapters like these. Still a good chapter though and i wonder if we ever get some reason for Madels clumsiness, maybe she's still overworking for Lil Leslie.

Also, Etai... what if... the ex-marquess sperado has joined forces with them? We know nothing of his whereabouts and he has a grudge against the Emperor and the Salvatores. And Etai has recently started to make moves. There might be some connection there.
Or not. But maybe there is. We'll know in 50+ chapters, I guess?

Almost all advancement, and I mean rapid advancement, came from america and due to the patent system, the guild system will keep things sceret, but the patent system will openly show everyone what everything is, how its made, and people with the ability are able to build on top of that.

double edged sword because it does allow for gaming the system, but an overall net positive.

@alidan Yep. It's the same with Capitalism. It incentivizes creativity and ideas, but also has its own drawbacks. Capitalism + Patent system leads to great amounts of inventions in a bid to improve their QoL.

The trickiest thing about capitalism is that it's not really a structured set of rules, so much as an observation of emergent behavior. Supply and demand are going to work the exact same way whether we know about it, conceptually, or not. It's not a governmental system so much as it's what emerges out of a relatively hands-off governmental system. e.g. there's no king directing all commerce.

Patent system is some useful government intervention as it provides some degree of protection for a research investment, which in complete freedom, has inherent risks. You can spend millions on development a novel technology, and if there's no way to have even a short exclusivity period on that technology, those millions are worth basically nothing if the procedure is publicly known, which is how you end up with heavily guarded trade secrets and run the risk of technologies ceasing to exist when the guardians of those secrets pass away unexpectedly. With patents, once that period is over, the technological knowledge effectively belongs to the public at large and can be independently developed from there.

So two paragraphs in I just realized I haven't actually contributed anything meaningful to the discussion, so I'm just gonna hit the submit button in shame.
