Yeah, I don't know what she was expecting. Contrary to what he says about her, the baron, in fact, absolutely needs her. He's more or less hijacking credit for her work, and if she's out of the picture, he'll inevitably be exposed for lying and fall from grace. It doesn't make what's essentially him buying her as a slave justified, but it's the only "rational" thing to do in his position.

Luckily, she knows people who outrank him and honestly holds all the cards besides a piece of shit father. Good lord did she cut this save close though.
