FF tactics was based on tactics ogre: let us cling together. Even had the same director and some of the team. And if Orlandeu from FF and Canopus from Ogre appeared, then this invasion would last 30 minutes at most before every monster was put down. And if people had access to the jobs and skills of those games...
Hell, in tactics ogre, people heal from petrification and the MC can rewind time by several turns.

True FFT is based on tactics ogre. If either Canopus or (Thunder God) Orlandeuentered the fray it would be game over. Now here’s something, what if he had to traverse the palace of the dead in tactics ogre? So far I’m seeing a lot of possibilities with the series.
Btw have you seen Orlandeu in FFXIV? There was a entire Ivallice raid. He was one of the bosses in this form he could definitely destroy a continent.

I can’t believe ol’ Thunder God is just testing the heroes here in FFXIV before they take on Ultima! He, Ramza, and Reis mopped the floor with her in tactics with no trouble. Both forms! And she was a pushover in XII. How the hell did she get so strong? Did she merge with Zodiark or something? Dorgalua at least summoned doppelgängers with the same stats, skills, and weapons!
I went through the palace of the dead many a time. Once for each route. Neutral, Chaos, Law. Got rare materials, got secret classes like Wicce and Lich, got the cursed weapons, sealed my best soldiers into them, leveled up, killed Nybeth, and got the Ogre and Jygla sets. You throw those on Ozma and Vyce in their respective special classes, along with ‘Can use nearly every skill in the game’ Lord Denam, give them each a cursed weapon that adds to their base stats and you steamroll the postgame with ease, which is extremely satisfying as you not only basically rescue your advisor from hell, but you save your mentor from being tortured into a broken state. I just wish they’d continue the series.

I wished the ogre series would continue, but it’s up to SE to decide. At least we got a nice homage to it when FFXIV did the palace of the dead with Nybeth as the 100 floor boss.

As for Ultima I have no idea what was up with her design. But within the fight her doppelgängers had the Tactics appearance. I don’t think there’s a connection with Zodiark. With the recent expansion of shadow bringers there have been lore bombs of zodiark. In addition that the Ascians have connections to the FF12 espers with the glyphs including the scions of darkness. I’m curious as to where it will go, because I want to avoid massive spoilers.
So we will see how this series goes hopefully MC doesn’t become OP too quickly.
