Most of what came before that was amasogi-of-the-month with some foreshadowing and character introductions that will likely be in the second season of the anime, along with at least some of Mayoiga. Lots of ecchi as well, which is what the OVA crowdfunding was for…

They cannot destroy amasogi because this will destroy the owner's soul that was trapped inside the amasogi (novel). So they have to fulfill the desire that created this amasogi instead, and fulfilling it will release the owner.
It was all explained back then in chapter 114, pages 19-20.
