I'm remembering why I dropped this manga now.. I was re-reading it and I prefer more light reads. Tomoki is just a kid who was having many issues in real life, being dropped into that other messed up world of that messed up goddess, and having her so called "blessings" that are more like curses, and having his Chuunibyou wishes granted was probably the worst thing to happen to him.

@Yonko I have a theory but major spoilers are required to explain.

As you know earlier Makoto has sociopathic tendencies like when Zentraya was demolished and only reacted by gag punishing his attendants. This is actually due to Makoto possesing a hidden talent he found as a child that was, "so terrifying" that he suppressed it instinctually. (ss 11) This turns out to be because his body 'houses' something monstrous while Makoto Misumi is merely the container, or I think it could be a God/something akin to one. (Revealed by Chiya when Makoto goes to Lorel and freaks her out so bad she faints lol)

So I think the XP Makoto gains could in fact be going towards this infernal beast while the 'shell' simply can use the power, scary eh?
