@Doomer @Stalkerman: Like Makoto said, he doesn't really care who is backing the bandit group or not, nor does he plan to go after the Noble who is backing them.

He just helped out the people of the village, because of all the past connections he was getting from those two.

The Charm eyes have both passive and focused effect in that, in passive condition, it makes the people around him to believe and trust him more easily (this doesn't work of people who have high resistance, like Hibiki and Chiya, since both of them also have special blessings from the Bug Goddess). While, the focused effect of his Charm eyes can cause the others to be totally submissive towards him (though he does it in typically Hero style fashion).

I always hated Tomoki and his charm eyes that the Bug gave him. Its why he can get away with being an absolute scumbag at nearly all the time. And he stays unlikable through all of what I've read.
