Useless Ponko - Vol. 4 Ch. 28 - Runaway Ponko

The chapter title seems inappropriate. Perhaps it is in reference to the old girl band, the Runaways.

yuuna may not be studying, but she's learning valuable lessons and maturing emotionally.

@oeconomist i asked stan to change it, but he wasn't having it.

@artichoke her abs are on full display in the chapter where they go to the beach. it looks out of place how much detail they have. https://mangadex.org/chapter/779962/5

@runrin

What is the original Japanese? And, if that does not fully explain the choice of translation, what is the rest of the explanation?

Kid should only be focused on study and practise important skills. Like how else would they know when to pull and argo when raid ?

@oeconomist the original japanese is right below the englist title:
でんでけぽんこ

i'll ask stan to clarify his choice when i talk to him next. he didn't explain it to me when i asked lol.

Chapter titles always have "Ponko" in it, even if it's misleading.

On another note, my sister ran away from home once, so I can totally relate to this chapter - especially grandpa's worries.

@eviljackspicer She is a teenager. That is what children her age do. For once, I think both her mother and grandfather are in the wrong in this chapter. They try to control her too much. She needs to study hard but at the same time, she should be allowed to explore what she can do and what she wants to do. I see no problem for her being in a band.

music band, well, that is one of the social interacting and it is necessary for the young ones to grow into society.

Wouldn't “Runaway, Ponko” have been better? And I think that “Run Away” would have been better here than “Runaway”. The adjective and noun “runaway” carries a specific meaning that does not seem to apply to this situation.

@Oeconomist i think its not a verba even though the sentence doesn't make a sense. This chapter tell us not about someone avoiding something. Its about rebellion

Yuuna has probably studied enough. what she needs to learn common sense, and empathy. interacting with new people and realizing you aren't the "main character" of life is important for young people. this is as much a part of her education as anything in a book.

@miyako19 Gramps telling her that her studies are the only thing she should focus on as a kid rubbed me the wrong way since it sounded very inappropriate in this context. It's usually a phrase used to assuage someone's worries over adult matters that they won't have to deal with yet, but he somehow made it sound like something a very controlling parent would say, like you mentioned.
