yeah, seems like some kind of contracted seal to work with the hero, Arga must have been the hero's "weapon", as it looked like he was forcefully following orders until he was hit by that spell.

I bet later he looks at his crest and it somehow changed to something else.

Likely, he will either die like a chump on the frontlines, get captured and be used as a political tool to get his country to bow down, or he will escape and die in a forest like a chump to some bandits.
