shoujo means that it's targeted towards a younger girl audience. the fact that it's self-depreciating is more than explainable. just because it's romance doesn't mean it's suited towards all ages. this is a rather innocent manga but it wouldn't do too well competing with series like PreCure or the general romance/harem stories
