I'm moving from Gmail to Protonmail, i want to change my account e-mail without needing to create a new one.

It does work actually. You mouseover your email and tooltip will tell you what should you do exactly.

@BzzBzz Yes, but you still can't change it yourself from the settings and not everyone is going to notice the tooltip. I didn't. Besides that, you directed them to the place where your e-mail is displayed, suggesting that you can change it there, instead of saying, "You can't do it youself. You have to PM ixlone to do it."
