@Kredim
Do you know if 8 chapters is expected again and what the volume delay has been (I haven't looked closely to see how much if any touch up work the author does for example)? Tank raws right now are up to 39, so if it's still 8 that'd presumably mean the next volume would be out maybe end of next month or October? Not that long to wait if so, even if the single page bumps are a bit off an 'oof' that's only because excited to see it continue again. Thanks for doing them anyway, they add some fun world building, and thanks even more for keeping up with this despite the wait between volumes!
@Kredim: A wordy page like this is harder to translate than a more visual one; I appreciate your work.
A girl used this spray on another girl. Back in the old days games like Final Fantasy Tactics had homophobic rules ("You can't Charm the same sex!"). Have modern RPGs fixed that?
@2SpiritCherokeePrincess There are several ways to go around with it: consistent game mechanics and consistent immersion. You can make "charm" as example at hand work on anyone but it would make little sense worldbuilding wise and it would greatly reduce the uniqueness of charm-type abilities by making it just another debuff with questionable name. You can make exceptions (like random chance), but it is adding extra game mechanics for little to no merit to project as a whole - it's just not worth the effort. Or you can leave the charm as special ability that works on specific group of opponents wich is pretty neat.
I see it as providing opportunity, you see it as something denying possibility.
@kwendy: We ended up going in different directions. You're talking about game mechanics, and what you say is true. But I'm talking about how it feels when you play a game where none of the characters are like you. A gay child playing it won't feel as invested in the story. There were also no asexual characters who can't be charmed by anyone, meaning I couldn't exist in this game world either.
@2SpiritCherokeePrincess Don't you think calling it "phobic" because it does not satisfy particular tastes is a bit excessive?
Also, of course I would talk about game mechanics if it's about the game. After all, it's basic bones of construct. Every bit of change requires effort and some changes do not pass just because of mundane things like that and not because some of personal creative views.
Not that I think that it's wrong to have creative views that don't match that of other people either.
