Did this use to be a light novel? Because if I'm gonna read huge blocks of texts, I'd much rather do it in LN format. This manga used to have great illustrations and pacing. Now it can't even handle the ever growing cast of characters it feels compelled to add every chapter. They really need to change the format or something.

@fantaray - yes. And the light novel translation is further along than the manga. It's still paced the same though so, ironically, I read the manga to get a better understanding of of the light novel.

Still wish that they covered the epic beatdown though...

It feels more and more like the author doesn't know what to do with the MC anymore. From not having a say about the battle in the last chapter and not even being aware he's keeping political hostages, it's confusing why he's even in it anymore.

I think at this point it's less that stuff isn't being done, it's just all of it is happening off-screen.

Every day the MC is going out and tending the fields and managing the affairs of the village, and so on, but we don't need to hear every chapter "and then I went out and made sure the villagers were doing stuff" or "and then I watered the rutabegas". We've heard he's doing these things in previous chapters and we're meant to just assume he's continuing to work on everything.

After all, he did say he wanted a peaceful life farming, so I doubt he minds that he's not involved in all this complex political stuff.

...even though he is.

@frozened those wolfs are legendary demon wolfs which are rear and extremely strong. Zabuton is a mythical monster one of its kind which can only reproduce if 10 conditions are fulfilled so ya if the chief ever wanted to he can just bring his army and dominate a continent by just showing the wolfs and spider
