The Ren on the Earth side seems to be drawn with a dashed line, so maybe he doesn't have a physical presence here while his spirit is in Mary's world. Like his Earth body only exists temporarily and then dissipates when he goes back. Unlike his body in Mary's world which seems to exist whether his spirit is there or not.

Simply learning the language might be more difficult than you think. There's nothing indicating that demons speak the same language as the humans in that world so there may be multiple languages. Not to mention, who would even teach him? MC doesn't interact with anyone besides the Demon Lord and Witch, who may prefer him to not knowing much. And the villagers may associate him with the Demon Lord if he goes to them.

I think that the author intended the mc to be your typical japanese who simply sucks at learning foreign language and doesn't have the motivation to learn the other language. (I even recalled from a newer article that there's a huge decline in their students' average english score in the recent years)
