that's the thing though. It only makes sense from the perspective of a game, where everything would be quantified for easy representation. A sword move IS the muscle movement and decision making skills used in combat, first learned as a set pattern and then with various alterations made on the fly as the root of the technique is understood through mastery. If he can't win due to poor muscle control and decision making skills then his swordsmanship skill should be lower as they are one in the same, it's what the number in an RPG is suppose to represent.
tl'dr: I'm kinda pointing out that it's RPG bs that doesn't take into account the arguments players used to have in table top rpgs, before video games, about what exactly it is the points represent.

@Meridis itou kami purposely made it look and feel like an RPG for easier understanding. Also masaru is the test run so all the problems you point he has been sending them to Itou kami so he can analyze them.
Why did itou kami do that? No one knows but thats the entire premise of the series.
At this point its like complaining that Itou kami could have sent a trainned soldier or even an squad to save the world.

that wasn't the point I was making though. It isn't that he should be better, it's that skill as it's shown in the story doesn't represent what is suppose to be represented by skills in rpgs. Yes, when games like this were first developed, giving numerical values to traits was done to make them easy to understand, but when reversing that in a game world story you have to keep in mind what they represent.
Because of how it is to study martial arts or practice swordsmanship in real life, having a character increase the number representing their skill and not improving in those specific traits means that the skill does nothing. At the very least, what it does is not swordsmanship.

@Meridis unlocking a tecnique/skill/attack without having enough mana/stamina/stats to actually use it is a common thrope in RPGs.
And even if you can actually use it you still need to master it. The example in the manga is very accurate, even if you have 2 players using the same character able to use the same techniques/combos/attacks they will play very differently depending of their style and experience.

my point was that rpg mechanics are a translation of abilities from real life or fantasy stories to game mechanics. When you write a story with game mechanics, your reversing that translation, taking those game mechanics and returning them to their original meaning in a fantasy story. The problem is that the writer focused on it being game-like while forgetting what the games were getting at in the first place.
If it were an issue of stamina, then in an isekai setting that would mean doing it would strain him enough to exhaust him right away, but that is ENTIRELY BESIDES THE POINT. It's not that type of skill, it's a swordsmanship skill, one that is suppose to make him better with a sword. The author completely missed what it means to be better with a sword in a real life or fantasy context, which is what an isekai with game mechanics is suppose to be translating those mechanics too.

the fact that he has a game system is a part of the series and we are talking about how it works. I honestly can't understand how you could try to argue this when the mc deals so much with this aspect of the story. We can dissect a part of the story without going off topic, in fact, you can't go off topic while discussing a part of the story by definition.
