This is sweet and all, but that love confession...i feel like that may trigger a certain "Flag", like in a game. Like before a massive invasion, an unexpected death, etc...
@HDMI1: There once was a time where schools were almost exclusively for the children of aristocrats and wealthy merchants IRL, you know. And a private tutor would still have a job by filling in the stuff that schools don't teach.
Then there's the combat/magic academies that are rather commonplace in fantasy manga.
@hdmi1 most likely that is a school blazer yes. But I don't think she is an isekai protag who invented them. The world does seem touched by isekai protags tho (english phrases like "lets rock" etc.), so I bet someone saw lack of schools and managed to weasel in with the nobility to get funding to start an educational facility inspired by their own past. But as another said, I doubt it is education for everyone, most likely only pertains to upper classes, and if higher enough, their vassals.
I bet they had private tutors too. Schools were as much for the connections etc., as they were for actually educating people. Though to some poorer rich classes the education probably were a bigger part of it too, due to not affording hiring teachers at home in addition to the school.
@Faryshta I get where are you coming from, but I still think it was not needed. Think about it, it'd only do harm from the perspective of her loved ones (she most likely will lose). I believe It could have been better if the author did something else instead of the duel, like overseeing MC's training and giving pointers to him until she believes he's ready to go or just become his sparring partner/train with him for a while or something else. Can't quite think about something else at the moment, but I still believe there are better ways. Just my 2 cents about the whole thing.
@Rin2k remember that high rank adventurers have no such leisure. Specially not after the battle from last chapter and the news that a country fell by monster attack.
And ultimately even if you train a lot its not the same as an actual battle where keeping a cool head and bravery matter.
This is consistent on how medieval knights solved disputes and proved their strength.
